Malachi Malagrowther

Malachi Malagrowther was a pseudonym used by Sir Walter Scott (1771 - 1832) in a series of letters written to the Edinburgh Weekly News in 1826, successfully defending the right of the Scottish banks to issue banknotes with a face value of less than five pounds.
