The Mal'ta Venus

The Mal'ta Venus is a palaeolithic figurine of a woman, discovered in a cave at Mal'ta near Lake Baikal in Siberia. The figurine is about 23,000 years old. It was carved from mammoth ivory. As is typical for the so-called Venus figurines, some of her sexual features, such as breasts and buttocks, are emphasized. It is on display at the Hermitage Museum, Saint Petersburg.
