The Malaysian Football Foreign Talent Scheme is a program run by the Football Association of Malaysia to boost Malaysian football. Its goal is to attract foreign players in Malaysia to change nationality and thus play for the Malaysia national football team. The scheme is described as the second key pillar of the FAM Football Excellence Plans.
In 2007, the national team welcomed Guinean-born Keita Mandjou to strengthen the national team. The FAM, with the help of the clubs, has identified several other talented U-21 foreign players under this scheme. Their performances are being closely monitored in the Malaysian Super League and Malaysian Premier League.
The latest players to get their Malaysian citizenships are:
- Keita Mandjou, a 27-year old Guinean-born with Perak FA.
