[edit] Some alterations

I've removed the following from your user page. I hope you don't object too strongly. In principle I would have no problem with a "United Macedonia" userbox, or paragraph of text. However in the current form, it is far too inflammatory. I'm sure you are aware that the yellow-on-red '91-'95 flag is inflammatory, so I have removed the largest incarnation. If you look at the changes User:Asteraki has made, I think this is quite equitable. If you have a problem with anything on his userpage, please bring it up at the noticeboard. Thanks :) - FrancisTyers 10:32, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

This user believes in and supports the reunification of Macedonia.

The Macedonia how it once was, The Macedonia of Alexander The Great:

Makedonia, although I really do not agree with some of your views, that's beside the point. The point is to put pages in line with the WP:USER policy, or in short, to avoid sensitive political topics, because of the collaborative and neutral nature of the project. Similar efforts are done to keep Greek user pages moderate. Also, you might want to check out Vlatkoto's user page for other ways of expressing your United Macedonia attitude. (I'm writing in English, so that everybody could understand what I'm saying). Also, sorry that I didn't engage in that Stan Lazaridis dispute - I know next to nothing about him, and I kind of want to concentrate on more important topics, such as Goce Delchev, Jane Sandanski etc. However, the e-mail is making this dispute really fun :-). [edit] Very funny...

... your Demosthenes quote. I've got a better one at my page ;-) --Telex 18:57, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

I thought Demosthenes was a politician... --Telex 22:03, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
Is that so? Hmm... so you mean the politician Demosthenes meant what he said, whereas Gligorov said that, but was really thinking Македонија на Македонците? I'm not sure - how do I know that Demosthenes wasn't lying for political purposes. I mean we don't hear him saying "the Persians are unrelated to the Greeks", or any other people who really were unrelated. The fact he said that merely proves that everyone else thought that the Ancient Macs were Greeks, and D was trying to convince them otherwise. Anyway, who knows... :-) --Telex 22:13, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
BTW, didn't that statement of Gligorov's make him lose votes? --Telex 22:13, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Lazarides

I felt I had to let you know as well, since I mentioned your name at Greasysteave13 talk page; I hope you do not mind:

Last month Greece played a friendly football match against Australia [1]. Stan Lazaridis was cheered by Australian Greeks as a fellow Australian Greek and the Greek team, namely Georgios Seitaridis, treated him as such. One must presume that since user Makedonia identifies with Lazaridis, he must be Greek himself.

Also, see article [2]: Greek interest on omogeneia football player Stan Lazaridis. 05 Jun 2006 09:47:00 Greek-Australian, 33 year-old football player, Stan Lazaridis revealed that Greece and Cyprus football teams have made interesting proposals with that of Greece being most attractive. However, he did not rule out the possibility of playing in an Australian team since he has proposals from three teams, Newcastle, whose coach is Greek Nikos Theodorakopoulos, Perth and Adelaide. At the moment he said “ the focus of my interest is Australian National team and my participation in the World Cup Finals.   Politis   (T)

I assume you do not have to be a Slav Macedonian to play in a Slav Macedonian team in Australia. In London there exists a small Greek Cypriot football league and Greek Cypriot football teams. The players do not have to be Greek, there are British black players, the occasional Turkish Cypriot player, etc...
Regarding 'Voden', you mean Edessa. I accept the appelation 'Voden' in Slavic languages. Also, I do not refer to Bitola as 'Monastir' or to Skopje as 'Uskub' or to Tetovo as 'Kalkandelen' or 'Tetova'.
As for playing both for Australian Greek and Slav Macedonian teams, a person can feel both Greek and Slav Macedonian - in fact, many do and some have suffered at the hands of Slav Macedonian extremists (and vice versa, of course). There is no law that says if you are a Slav Macedonian Greek, then you have to identify with Skopje's national construct, that you have to be a Makedonski and that is that. For instance, presumably you do not want to be identified as a Bulgarian. I respect that. But the vast majority of Greek Slavophones or bi-linguals do not want to be identified as 'ethnic Macedonians' as defined by the Slav Macedonian authorities in Skopje. I hope you can come to terms with that and accept there are difference between the citizens of ROM/FYROM and the Greek bilinguals of (Greek) Macedonia.   Politis   (T)
I do not feel it is my place to edit the national identity of a living person. But I am curious to see what make you so certain that he is of 'Macedonian (ethnic group)' origin? Perhaps his ancestor considered themselves just Greeks or Bulgarians or Slavophones or just Greek Orthodox members of the Rum miliet.   Politis   (T)

Hi there. Thanks for trying to compromise. The problem with this article is that Stan Lazaridis is a real person, with a real ethnic background. He cannot be both Slav and Greek Macedonian, just because everybody has to be pleased. I would suggest we completely remove any reference to both our countries and just say he is Australian. --   Avg    20:12, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] CG Wikipedia

Hey Makedonia, there is currently a vote for a version of Wikipedia in Montenegrin. If you want to vote, go to meta:Requests for new languages. There you can vote. [edit] Question and objection

My objection is that your user page reads like a POV statement and fringes on propaganda. I think that goes against Wikipedia policy.

Question, You support a united Macedonia and the Vinozhito-Rainbow Party. I think that party also supports it, do you have any quotes that it supports a united M? I mean, is that your impression also? thanks Politis 14:24, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your user page

Hi, we recently had an RfC about "political" user pages about Macedonia. The result was a strong reminder of WP:USER, which says: Hi Makedonas, there recently was a renewed discussion about "political" user pages of Macedonian users (see Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Macedonia). Result was, several pages (User:Macedonia's and User:Vergina's) were deleted. Yours was mentioned too. Could you please remove the political material you have there? It's in breach of the WP:USER rules which say that "Extensive discussion not related to Wikipedia, [...] extensive personal opinions on matters unrelated to Wikipedia, [...] Other non-encyclopedic material" shouldn't be on user pages. Thanks. Fut.Perf. 23:39, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Duvalo

Hi, you created an article titled Duvalo last year. I came across this page in the course of my work on WikiProject Volcanoes. There are no references in this article, and I am unable to find any info about a volcano named Duvalo using Google. Please add some references so that this article meets the policy in WP:A and WP:RS.

In addition, it is very difficult to understand the poorly-written English, and many of the sentences are unclear. Even the first sentence, "Duvalo the sulphur find volcano is an active post-volcanic phenomenon", is almost impossible to understand. The words may be English, but "sulphur find volcano" has no discernible meaning. From your description, it appears that this may not be a volcano, but instead a sulfurous fumarole.

I'm sorry if my comments seem harsh, but you do claim to speak English at a near-native level (en-4) on your userpage, and yet this article is only at the en-2 level of wriiting. If you do now speak and write English at an en-4 level, please revise this article to an en-4 standard so that others may be able to understand it. Although I am a native English speaker, I am unable to understand this article well enough (nor can I find any references or sources) to try to improve it myself. Also, if you are not able to contribute to Wikipedia at an en-4 level, please consider placing a more realistic evaluation of your English skills on your user page.

Please do not be offended by my suggestions here. I am only trying to improve the article and Wikipedia by offering these suggestions for your consideration. Thanks. --Seattle Skier (talk) 04:15, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Macedonia template

There are several reasons why I think that template should be deleted. First of all, is a strong consensus on other templates in the past; but, that will not answer your question, so I will give you more reasons. In this case, the qualifiers are 8 or 10 games, right? Macedonia's team, or any other country's team, may not be the exact same for all of those games. In that case, which player is added to the template? For tournaments like the Euro finals, the World Cup, and others, the roster for all games is set, and can be verified. It is possible to build a list of those teams, but even then, the view on templates in every article is split (and, in the football project, the consensus is very much against adding templates for everything except the World Cup finals).

But, I am happy that Goce (Sedloski) has scored some goals for you. I live in Sendai, Japan, and met him when he played here. Neier 09:06, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Well, I still think that the list in Republic of Macedonia national football team is sufficient. It also doesn't match the template in a few places. The qualifiers last so long, if the template is updated for the final team, then, what about the first game's players? Are they not in the template anymore? Isn't it better if they just have a link in the article like " played for the Republic of Macedonia in 5 qualifiers of the 2008 Euro"? And, what about Goce, in the next game (red card, so cannot play, so, he would be removed from the template?) Anyway, national teams are not as stable as club teams, and can change each week during busy times. That's why most national team templates are deleted.

I looked at 2008 UEFA European Football Championship qualifying Group E, to see if there was any place to add the roster information like you want; but, it looks like that it only lists goal scorers. Neier 00:28, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Could some wikipedia user please remove the offensive and inflamatory picture on the user page!

As greek citizen I found it very offensive, and I am sure most wikipedia users would find very offensive an image of a map containing portions of their country united geopolitically with another region, under the other countries flag and governance. This is unacceptable as it a thinly veilled call to arms. How ironic that this wishes to see a peaceful united macedonia by incorporating regions of Greece, a "peacefull united Macedonia" that will come about by imperialist war against Greece. It's like saying one is for a peaceful Alps region appropriated by any of the countries now incorporating parts of the Alps. Wouldn't you find it offensive (and that is a rhetorical question) if you visited a user page in wikipedia where your country of residence is coloured with another nations flag and incorporated there? I am trying to be as civil as possible here, abiding to wikipedia's rules, but I think that unless this user removes this picture he should be banned from the encyclopaedia. Last thing we need is ultra nationalist warmongers threatening other wikipedians national borders, safety and security, and using their encyclopaedia as a vessel for their propagandizing. 84.254.51.225 07:40, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi. I am working on the Makedonsko Devoiche page and was wondering if you could add a Dutch translation. My reasons are on the talk page. Thanks. Alex 202.10.89.28 04:01, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. Put it on the discussion page for now and we'll see if anyone has any objections. Alex 202.10.89.28 22:50, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Well, it didn't work out. However, if you are active on the Macedonian or Dutch Wikipedias and it's not too much trouble could you add it there? I don't know of any Dutch Bulgarians so you may not have to edit it for a while if you create it. Alex 202.10.89.28 08:38, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:IMG_7299.jpg

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:IMG_7299.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 01:23, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Slsc.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Slsc.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:27, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Ohrid_II_by_Denneris.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Ohrid_II_by_Denneris.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 23:47, 23 February 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 23:47, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Ohrid II by Denneris.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Ohrid II by Denneris.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 23:57, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:R3405898984.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 22:28, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Logostopanskabanka.gif

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Logostopanskabanka.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. [edit] List of Ethnic Macedonians

Actually, if you notice, there's a separate list of ancient Macedonians (that even states: "This is a list of ancient Macedonians (Greek: Μακεδόνες, Makedónes), whose level of kinship with the Greeks is debated", which is pretty NPOV). Hence, they don't belong in the article that you put them in which is why I reverted you. Excuse the 'fuck no'. Btw, of course it's not up to me to decide, it's just that "Macedonian" can be used in a million different contexts that you might be confusing. 3rdAlcove (talk) 21:32, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

That's allright and fine with me that there is a seperate ancient macedonians topic, but then why is the greek word for Makedones added? if so you should add the Macedonian word makedonci too. Second, Than Alexander the great and the rest of the ancient macedonians should be removed from the list of greeks page too for the same reason. otherwise it is not fair, and clearly another sign of greek gang shaping conspiracy on wikipedia, who only edit articles how they like them to be. And if it is debated, then why the alexander the great wiki page mentions, that he is greek and only greek?? Fairness, reality and the truth are still too far away from wikipedia, and i am again wondering why im here. Makedonia (talk) 22:06, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
The Greek word is added because that's the original word used to refer to ancient Macedonians. "Makedonci" would be irrelevant in an ancient context, your ideas of 'Macedonian' continuity notwithstanding. As for Alexander being called a "Greek", see the Talk Page to Alexander the Great. I was in favour of changing the intro to simply "king of Macedon" per Future's suggestion but other users -not just Greek users, I might add- were in favour of keeping it as it is (which really isn't that POV considering Alexander's education and the overall hellenization of the royal house). 3rdAlcove (talk) 22:40, 7 April 2008 (UTC)'

There is a difference between Hellenization and to be 'Greek'. Hellenization is somewhat to be compared as today is the western world and the western influence, so i don't see that as a argument to portray them as Greeks. The hellenic world is like today the western world is, the hellenic language back then was the lingua franca, is like today the english language is the lingua franca of the western world. France and England, Germany etc.... all belong to the western world, and took the western influence, does that mean they are all the same people?? No they aren't.Makedonia (talk) 10:24, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

(rom) people are unrelated and ancient macedonians were ancient greeks not something else.Any theory or proposal to link them with slavic, bulgarian, albanian or any such populations is Fringe. Not even illyrian, thracian or phrygian are eligible anymore in science and the sense is that they were a minor marginal greek doric tribe.Even if they were lets say Phrygians and were hellenised in 800 bc or 400 bc they became Greeks proper they didnt just gained trendy ancient greek fashion.Megistias (talk) 12:10, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Image Copyright problem

Hi Makedonia!
We thank you for uploading Image:IMG 3874.JPG, but there is a problem. Your image is currently missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Unless you can help by adding a copyright tag, it may be deleted by an Administrator. If you know this information, then we urge you to add a copyright tag to the image description page. We apologize for this, but all images must confirm to policy on Wikipedia.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks so much for your cooperation.

[edit] License tagging for Image:Slavkovski.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Slavkovski.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 15:16, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Image:Slavkovski.jpg

A tag has been placed on Image:Slavkovski.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free image with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria.

If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the image can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{non-free fair use in|article name that the image is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the image. If the image has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
