Talk:MakeHuman
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Makehuhman isn't similar to DAZ Studio or Poser. They have different purposes, different audiences and ... well nothing in common except that they are both dealing with 3d graphics. -oliver
They are about the human figure and posing for humans. They are the exact same type of program --Argento3 (talk) 14:38, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
To be more clear they are about proportions in humans, poses, facial expressions, clothes (not yet implemented in makehuman but they will be in the next version) --Argento3 (talk) 14:42, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
That implies that MakeHuman would be an alternative for users of DAZ Studio and Poser which is plain wrong. Poser and Studio are meant to be a virtual stage for people who find traditional 3D Programs like Blender too complicated. Also both programs don't have an focus on creating humanoid Models, just on using them. If you look at MakeHuman from that perspective it is a very weak Program: Only one model, no clothing, no hair, no props, no animation, no sound. MakeHuman is meant to create basic 3D Models to be further worked on in other 3d Applications and require you to model essential parts of the figure yourself (like clothing and hair), which gives it an completely different audience and does make it an incomparable to Poser and DAZ Studio. That is like saying an image viewer and a paint program are the same type of application. -oliver
Makehuman is just not finished, so you must use an external program to finish your work. It will have all the features that you name (hairs, clothing, animation). At the beginning it was like you said (it started as a blender plug-in and you had to use blender to complete your work) but after that it became a standalone program meant to be a poser clone. --Argento3 (talk) 23:26, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
