Makoto Ueda (poetry critic)

Makoto Ueda (上田真 Ueda Makoto), professor emeritus of Japanese literature at Stanford University, is an author of numerous books about Japanese poetry, including haiku, tanka and senryu. He earned Ph.D. in comparative literature in 1962.
