Baron Makoto Hagiwara (?-1925) was a Japanese American landscape designer responsible for the creating and maintaining the Japanese Tea Garden at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, California from 1895 until his death in 1925. He is often attributed for having invented the fortune cookie in California[1], but this claim remains highly debatable.[2]
