Makeida Ezekiel (born October 16, 1985), better known by her first name Makeida, is a United Kingdom, R&B Singer-songwriter who has been noted for her blend on Dirty South music and creative melodies on Hip Hop and R&B in her singing.

Makeida was born in Stepney Green, London to Greek mother Androulla Ezekiel and Nigerian father Micheal Ezekiel and was raised along with her eleven brothers and sisters in East London, England. Born Makeida Ezekiel, she was named after the ancient African Queen of Sheba who was called Makeda. At the age of ten, Makeida reworked her bedroom into a small studio with an keyboard and began composing music and by 13 Makeida was producing and mastering her vocals. Makeida later graduated from University of Hertfordshire.[1] Prior to becoming a solo singer/songwriter[2] In 2003, she founded her own label, Musichild Entertainment and soon caught the spotlight as a solo artist when her song "Strong Brother", a reworked version of Franchiz Boyz's "Lean Wit It", gained popularity in the UK and USA region. [edit] 2006: New Day
Her debut album, New Day, was released on November 18, 2006, under Musichild Entertainment. The album included hit singles "Strong Brother," a remake of the 'Lean wit it' track by the Franchiz boyz. Other popular tracks included"Fly" and "My Intuition". New Day, sold over 250,000 ringtones and over 500,000 iTune downloads. All of which was a result of independent efforts by the artist.[4]

Makeida's second album[5] Unleashed is set to be released on February 5, 2009, that features "He Got It" and "Sugar Love" featuring Akon. This album is tipped to go platinum. The first for this Independent artist. The first single off the album "He Got It" features 2 Pistols and was released on radio airplay in March 2008. It is also stated that a music video is in the works.[6][7][8]
