Makeda Davis

Makeda Davis is a Charlotte-bred mezzo-soprano.

She replaced Amel Larrieux in Groove Theory in 1999, when Amel decided to go on a solo career. After Groove Theory was dropped by Columbia Records in 2000, Davis went on to write tracks for other artists with her bandmate, Bryce Wilson, including "Hip Hop Star" from Beyoncé's album Dangerously in Love, as well as "Not The Only One" from Amerie's Touch. She Also wrote "The Best of me (Remix) for Mya ft.Jay Z
