Maja Bogdanović (born Маја Богдановић, 1982 in Belgrade, Serbia, Yugoslavia) is a Paris based cellist
Bogdanović started playing cello at the age of six, at the School of Music "Kosta Manojlović" in Zemun, in class of prof. Nada Jovanovic. At the age of 16, she became student at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. She graduated under Michel Strauss and Itamar Golan, winning first prizes in both cello and chamber music. In 2005 she finished post graduated studies at Conservatoire under Michel Strauss. Currently residing in Paris, Bogdanovic is active as a soloist and chamber musician, and pursues further training with Strauss and Pierre-Laurent Aimard.
Bogdanović received the Ministry of Culture Awards, and scholarships of the Madlena Janković Private Fund, Fund for Development of Young Artists, The French Government, Societe Generale Fund, as well as scholarship of NATEXIS Banque Populaire (2004-2007). She won prizes at international competitions - Petar Konjovic 1997 Belgrade; Usti nad Orlici Czech Republic; Premio Kawai in Italy; nad the Liezen Cello Competition. In 2003 she won the ESTA Competition in Paris and series of concerts in Europe. She was awarded Grand Prix de Normandie, chamber music competition - duo with Sanja Bizjak. In November 2005, she was awarded a Special Prize at Rostropovitch competition in Paris, a cello by Jean Baptiste Vuillaume dated 1852, kindly loaned by Fonds Instrumental Francais.
She has given the concerts at the Gallery of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Théâtre Mogador and Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, as well as Cite des Congres in Nantes. She performed at BEMUS (Belgrade Music Festival), Prades dans Champs Elysees. She was soloist with the Serbian Radio and Television Orchestra, Orchestra of French Republic Guard, Chamber Orchestra of Saint Georges, Chamber Orchestra "Dusan Skovran", Orchestre des Laureats of Conservatoire de Paris. Bogdanovic has worked with Bernard Greenhouse, Alban Gerhardt, Jens Peter Maintz, Young Chang Cho, Francois Salque, Diana Ligeti, Itamar Golan, Pierre Laurent Aimard and Valerie Aimard. In December 2006, Maja Bogdanovic won a 2nd prize and the Audience Award at the 1st Gaspar Cassado Cello Competition held in Hachioji, Japan.
In August 2007, Maja won the 1st and the only prize at the Aldo Parisot Cello Competition in South Korea. Winning prize includes $30,000(US) supported by Governor of Gangwon Province and Aldo Parisot, a solo recital at Carnegie Hall, and additional prizes. Judges included Myung-Wha Chung (Korean National University of Arts), Jian Wang (Deutsche Grammophon), Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt (Universitat der Kunste in Berlin). Mr. Parisot presided over the jury.
