You are right that it doesn't make sense UNLESS the normalizing constant is P(B). But you are wrong to say that it doesn't make sense. The normalizing constant is in fact P(B). Think that through and you will see what I mean. Michael Hardy (talk) 21:17, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- hm, I have to admit I have now no recollection of my thought processes when I made that edit. Re-reading the old page it seems okay. In fact, the wp definition of likelihood is of a class of functions, for any constant of proportionality, so it would seem that the normalizing constant could equally be any (matching) constant. However, I see you have removed the section that I commented due to confusion - was that intentional? MairAW (talk) 16:11, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
