[edit] Time before Shardik

I don't believe Maia occurs 20 years before Shardik--that seems too long: the author says a "few" years, and the character of Melethys is 6 or 7 in Maia, which should help pin down the difference (she appears in Shardik also).

Seconded. In one of the later chapters of Shardik (it might be "The Kynat") I believe Kelderek refers to Melathys as "not yet twenty". (Not a direct quote, as I don't have the book in front of me.) I've long assumed that to put Melathys at 19 years old, and therefore puts Maia about a dozen years before Shardik (at most.) —Salt-Man Z 204.147.87.162 17:49, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
Shardik is searchable at Amazon, I see. In "The Priestess's Tale", Melathys says that when she came to Zeray, she was "not twenty-one years old," so you must be right. I'll fix it. —JerryFriedman

[edit] Cleanup

Major characters and List of chapters need at least a decent formatting. Eventually List of chapters could be removed and Major characters shortened. GhePeU 23:17, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Just a straight-forward summary - not chapter by chapter

I don't think this needs a chapter-by-chapter summary. —JerryFriedman 03:14, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

I think there is more point to actually write a straight-forward summary instead of chapter by chapter. If you do it chapter by chapter, you may as well tell the people to read this instead of the book. A summmary is supposed to make the story much much shorter and nobody will want a very long wiki article. No offense to the person who first started this, but I think I'll write up the summary better now. Lady Nimue of the Lake 07:32, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

I think that's a good idea, but may I suggest a less detailed summary? Summaries are fun to write—I've done a couple—but a good thing to think about might be how much anyone wants to know who isn't planning to read the book. And what you can leave out. And what you can finish in what the mathematicians call "a finite amount of time". Just a suggestion. —JerryFriedman 15:55, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
Okay, I admit I added a few things, but I think the level of detail is reasonable now. —JerryFriedman 17:43, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
If we keep the subheadings, I or someone will have to put your mention of "Serrelinda" back in, which I think will need a mention of the Serrelind district. —JerryFriedman 17:55, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Do we need a list of all the chapters?

Does the article need a whole list of all the chapters? I think that it is rather unecessary, but then again, so are articles of books...Lady Nimue of the Lake 08:37, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

I don't see a need for the list. —JerryFriedman 17:55, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Even though I don't know how to put barnstars,

Really must acknowledge JerryFriedman for his hard work on Maia. I'll try to find a barnstar sometime...Lady Nimue of the Lake 23:56, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Why are you saying that Genshed rapes Maia? I can only find two encounters between them: in Chapter 5, where she kicks him in the stomach, and in Chapter 6, where Occula saves her. Please don't say he rapes her without putting a reference to the scene here, if you don't want to vandalize the article. Thanks. —JerryFriedman 03:38, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Maia.jpg

Image:Maia.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
