Maizonos Street

Maizonos Street (Greek: Odos Maizonos), also Mezonos Street is Patras' major street running southbound one way entirely from 28 Oktovriou (Karolou) Street with Konstantinopouleos Street to Eleftherios Venizelos Street. It was the westbound part of what it used to be GR-8 and part is the secondary part of the GR-9 (both E55). Residential buildings cover the northern and the southern part of the street, shops and stores cover the central and some in the southern part and it passes through the south of Olga Square as well as the north of Georgiou II Square in which is used to access with the southern part especially Korinthou. South of Eleftherios Venizelos Street is used only for residential traffic. The northern and southern parts has forests near its curbs while arches dominate the central part. Restaurants includes Goody's by Olga Square. Also by Maizonos and Nikolaou is the historic house built by Theodoros Tzini in 1831.

The street was first named in the mid-20th century. It was later paved and filled with neo-classical buildings. After World War II and the Greek Civil War, more housing were added and some neo classical buildings but most of them remain were replaced with taller buildings. Street lights were installed and traffic lights were added in Zaimi, Kolokotronis, Agiou Nikolaou, Ermou, Georgiou II, Patreos, Votsis, Dimitris Gounaris, Trion Navarcheion, Papaflessa, Voreiou Ipeirou and Eleftheriou Venizelou.
