The U.S. state of Maine currently has two congressional districts.

Maine used to be part of Massachusetts. After the 1810 census, Massachusetts was allocated 20 districts. Seven districts were credited to Maine when it became a state in 1820. All but the 1st and 2nd districts have become obsolete.

The 1st district encompasses the more populous counties of southwestern Maine: Cumberland County, most of Kennebec County, Knox County, Lincoln County, Sagadahoc County, and York County.

The 1st district is represented by Democratic Congressman Tom Allen.

Maine's 2nd district is the largest congressional district east of the Mississippi. It is made up of Androscoggin County, Aroostook County, Franklin County, Hancock County, part of Kennebec County, Oxford County, Penobscot County, Piscataquis County, Somerset County, Waldo County, Washington County.

The 2nd is currently represented by Democratic Congressman Mike Michaud.
