Maihara, Shiga

Maihara (米原町 Maihara-chō?) was a town located in Sakata District, Shiga, Japan. On February 14, 2005, it merged with the towns of Santo and Ibuki to form a new city called Maibara.

In 2003, the town had an estimated population of 12,212 and a density of 285.46 persons per km². The total area was 42.78 km². The town's name was pronounced Maibara by many Japanese.
