Maidenhair moss is a moss (Fissidens adianthoides Hedw.), in the family Fissidentaceae and class Bryopsida.
The Nitinaht Indians of Vancouver Island used Maidenhair Moss to bandage wounds. It was so named by Anglo-Saxons because of its resemblance to pubic hair.
