[edit] Birthplace of Imam Ahmad
Salam 'alaikum sister, I was wondering if we could get some citation for the birthplace of Imam Ahmad. I have some biographies of him but they are not with me right now so I am not sure exactly where he was born. MezzoMezzo 15:05, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Ahmad ibn Hanbal
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Ahmad ibn Hanbal. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content which gains a consensus among editors. --Vonones 06:05, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you. --Vonones 06:14, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks. Some sources say that his mother became pregnant in Merv, but gave birth in Baghdad. There are also a few sources that say he was of "Arab background", while other sources call him of "Persian background". For the sake of NPOV, and in order to compromise, we could report both versions in a neutral manner, I'll re-write the section tomorrow.--Mardavich 06:27, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Arab article
As I did read this article, it contains a lot of unusual information, propagandistic views and weasel words in the article Arab. I therefore would like to get a group with me who are able to rewrite this article in a best way to get best results. Anyone who want to join our team add your name below in the Arab Talk page. Please note that after the team has gathered, we will place "under-progress" tag. Irqirq 14:50, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Maha. You can just add your name and country of origin only if you wish. There are some people who oppose the forming of the team, We need as much people as possible to make any major changes thanks for your concern about the major problem we deal with in the Arab article Irqirq 07:24, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] The newest WikiProject
[edit] Announcement
Hi, and welcome to the newly started Arab world WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to the Arab World.
The project birthday would be celebrated every August 24.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPARAB Announcements}} there.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, detailed article and content review, and other tasks.
- Important notice
- We've developed a variety of guidelines for article structure and content, template use, categorization, and other issues that you may find useful. These guidelines can be subject of discussions at the project talkpage or simply WT:ARAB.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask User:FayssalF for the time being, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around!
[edit] Please use edit summaries
Hello. Please be courteous to other editors and use edit summaries when updating articles. The Mathbot tool shows your usage of edit summaries to be extremely low:
- Edit summary usage for Maha Odeh: 10% for major edits and 40% for minor edits. Based on the last 116 major and 5 minor edits in the article namespace.
Using edit summaries helps other editors quickly understand your edits, which is especially useful when you make changes to articles that are on others' watchlists. Thanks and happy editing! --Kralizec! (talk) 17:15, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] double {{OR}} over at Mihrab
Your comments on Talk:Mihrab suggest that you have the expertise to address the OR issues noted on the talk page. Even if not, your input would certainly be useful. Thanks. -- Fullstop 23:43, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Thanks Maha for your the work you put into digging up that material. I have incorporated your material into a rewrite of what was evidently mostly made up by someone. It would however be great if you could insert <ref></ref> citations at the appropriate points in the article. -- Fullstop 17:58, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Egyptian Arabic
Egyptian Arabic (Maṣrī مصري) is an Arabic dialect.
- The only language to branch out of Arabic is Maltese. Can you please help me organize these articles?.
Arabic dialect has to be clearly added in the infobox an openning sentence so it dont get confused as a language!--Skatewalk 03:07, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Attempts to reduce the Arabic language status
A user known for his/her Anti-Arab agenda made it his/her mission to claim that all Arabic dialects are independent languages, starting with Egyptian Arabic dialect. Egyptian Arabic (Maṣrī مصري) is an Arabic dialect. has to be clearly emphasized in the Egyptian Arabic article

[edit] So we speak 22 languages?
Can you please help Zerida (and her sock-puppets) understand that Egyptian Arabic is a dialect, I think she is already taking it personal! (Egyptian Arabic)I mean once they declare every dialect a Language I will have a beautiful resume with 22 languages on it, but as of now unfortunately the constituition of Egypt and every Arab nation only recognizes one Arabic language as the only Arabic language!--Skatewalk 18:05, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Tagging
About this [5] - Just put an article-wide one at the top if there is a problem. Also, be sure to bring up your objections at the talk page, or else the tags will soon be removed without solving whatever problem. Regards, The Behnam 14:54, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] List of Arabic Names (Old Version)
I just noticed what had happened to the Arabic name list, and from the discussion page it looked like you were a major contributor to the old, and far better, version. Since you don't allow for contact by e-mail, I figured I'd ask through this venue: Do you happen to have any of the material you contributed to the old version of the article lying around on your hard drive? If so, I'd much appreciate it if you could send it to me via email, just follow the link to my user page, etc. And even if you don't have any of the material left, please let me know that as well.

[edit] Muslim Feminist?
How can you be both? Reading some text, I found the following...
Sura (4:11) [6] - "The male shall have the equal of the portion of two females"
Sura (2:228)[7] - "and the men are a degree above them [women]"
Sura (24:31)[8] - Women are to lower their gaze around men, so they do not look them in the eye.
Sura 2:282 [9] - A woman's testimony is worth only half that of a man's in court.
Sura (24:13) [10] - Proving rape requires 4 male witnesses "Why did they not bring four witnesses of it? But as they have not brought witnesses they are liars before Allah."
I realize I may sound vile or horribly condescending. But the more I read the more difficult it seems to be a real feminist Muslim. I only know one side of this issue, can you explain the other? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Phfor (talk • contribs) 04:32, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
