From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hi, I'm User:Mahanga from Wikipedia! You may remember me from other Wikimedia projects such as Commons, Wikiquote, and Wikibooks. My instant messaging username is available upon request.
I edit mostly on technology, computer science, sports, and things that relate to me or people I know. Recently, I've been trying to get involved in policy and proposal pages, such as WP:1.0. I avoid controversial topics since it seems to be the reason most people leave WP. I like welcoming new users and occasionally doing clean-up tasks (dabs, typos, stub sorting).

[edit] Tools
Here are tools that have been of great aid to me.
- Mozilla Firefox browser - tabbed browsing is a must
- Wikipedia Google search and Wikipedia Google Feeling Lucky - Add keywords to those bookmarks and you'll never use the Wikipedia search and go ever again
- Wikipedia:Tools/Browser_integration#Search_within_Textarea_Extension and bookmarklet - allows you to search within textarea. the bookmarklet allow regex and search and replace! (add a keyword to the bookmarklet)
- Undo close tab extension - I've accidentally closed tabs I was working one, I can simply reopen them in the previous state.
- User:Lupin/Anti-vandal tool - great way to find and remove vandalism
- #wikipedia - when you want to chat, ask a question, or eat popcorn during the flamefests
- mIRC script - click links on irc
- Wikipedia:Tools/Navigation_popups - haven't used these that much, but I hear they're great
- Answers - when WP is going slow and you need to look something up (make a keyword)
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Stub types is bookmarked for quick access.
- Flickr Creative Commons search (ok for Wikimedia Commons) - [1] [2]
Requests:
- Automatic Bot to fix common spelling mistakes. Theoretically shouldn't make any errors (recieve -> receive, didnt -> didn't, etc).
- Automatic Bot to fix ambiguous links based on category and/or template. Especially useful for music terms (pop, rock, etc). These usually come from the album infobox and can be converted automatically to its music equivalent. (rock -> rock music, pop -> pop music, etc). Again 99% error-proof.
- Tool for cleaning up DAB pages - search:
(.*?\[\[.*?\]\].*)\[\[([^\]\|]*?\|)?(.*?)\]\]
replace:$1$3
