[edit] Record
- Somehow I feel that the "records" section is a bit of fan-cruft-indulgence. ßlηguγeη | Have your say!!! 07:03, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
- Even though it is just stats, there is a hint of POV. It would also be a hard section to update. I reckon the first part should stay where as the bottom two, the stuff about his average and strike rate should go, because of the constant need to update and the fact that it is not really a record. GizzaChat © 07:29, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

- The first part should stay (wrt best score by wkeeper and 2nd innings score), but the stuff about hitting lots of fours and sixes would seem to emphasize the more flamboyant/entertaining side of him, which sticks out like a sore thumb when his effectiveness rather than his style should be emphasized.ßlηguγɛη | Have your say!!! 07:33, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

- It strikes me that most of the stuff is very ephemeral and will be in constant need of checking. Not the best way to go about building a good article. --LiamE 01:55, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

- The records bit is a bit pointless I agree, but I think the comments about his entertaining style should remain because they hardly represent anything subjective, and paint a better picture about the player's character. After all, if a player is stated to be a bit of a superstar, it's within reason to explain why.

[edit] sports page link farms
this page was full of external links to 1-page sites. I wonder how admins never saw this. anyway i have removed all but one which have interview. i think site like cricinfo have spammed all these pages. Jacksmith123 15:20, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] images
it requires images of good quality. at least a couple. one right in the beginning and one maybe later in the page.
[edit] fan style writing
this para needs to be edited :
In 2006 tour of South Africa, India were thrashed 8-0 in the ODI series(.......)He was unlucky to miss out the last test due to injury. Wildpixs 13:29, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Pictures
A few good and legally free pictures of MS Dhone can help to improve the article. Mayank Abhishek 11:56, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Section on Teams
Do we need the section on teams. I think it is completely irrelevant and has no meaning. He played for India, India-A, Bihar (undivided), Jharkand (current state) and East Zone. There is nothing that needs to be highlighted here. Pls let me know. Kalyan 15:19, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
- It doesn't need its own section. It should be integrated with his career. GizzaChat © 07:12, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Successful good article nomination
I am glad to say that this article which was nominated for good article status has succeeded. This is how the article, as of June 17, 2007, compares against the six good article criteria:
- 1. Well written?: Article is well written with understandable, see points below for pointers towards improving article as it moves along in quality.
- 2. Factually accurate?: Article is sourced to an impressive (70) citations.
- 3. Broad in coverage?: Article is very thorough, covering key topics and moving along cohesively and chronologically.
- 4. Neutral point of view?: Article appears to be written in a neutral fashion, some tweaking would be helpful in the intro.
- 5. Article stability? Some vandalism from anon-ips in the edit history, just keep an eye on this, otherwise nothing too major.
- 6. Images?: Two public domain graphs.
If you feel that this review is in error, feel free to take it to a GA review. Thank you to all of the editors who worked hard to bring it to this status. — Smee 04:28, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
- Some pointers as article moves along in quality --
- Well written - Yes, but the intro is a bit long, perhaps part of it could be split off into a fourth paragraph, for clarity.
- Done. Made it into four paras. I think, in a year's time - we will revisit the lead to ensure that it maintains an overview of his career.
- Citations - Great referencing, meticulous. However, perhaps it would be helpful to include an "Additional sources" subsection, or "further reading", with some key books and articles.
- Thanks for the lead. However Dhoni is a very recent cricketer and has no books. He, however, was the lead story sometime back on Cricinfo. I shall try and get that added and see if i can collect some additional material for "See Also" section.--Kalyan 11:28, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- Images - The (2) public domain graphs should be moved to the WikiCommons, so they can be used more easily on cross-projects.
- Will do this over the weekend. --Kalyan 11:28, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- Review -- Once some of these things have been addressed, and the GA review absorbed, the article should go for a Wikipedia:Peer Review, to get even more feedback from others not familiar with the article.
- The article already had one round of Peer Review. If required, i shall send it to another round of PR.
Great work, overall. Yours, Smee 04:28, 17 June 2007 (UTC).
[edit] ODI Batting Graph
Probably should update it with the more common one created by Raven4x4 with the distinct red lines. Just doin it for consistency. Thoughts, anybody opposing? User_talk:Gibbsyspin 09:16, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, i am the original author/creator of the graph and i have no issues if someone can update it (been a long time since i updated it). Also, as i don't have the time to work on the article as before, request someone else to take it forward. The reason why i deviated was that i wanted to add the career trendline in addition to the 10-innings trendline and the scores. --Vimalkalyan (not logged in) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.8.222.82 (talk) 12:33, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] test stats
For some reason his test stats were not in the infobox? I have added them now SGGH speak! 10:15, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] lead section needs editing
Hi, i noticed that the lead section has grow very large with micro-analysis of his form. Please note that the lead section is intended as summary of his career and not as trend descriptor. -- 192.8.222.82 (talk) 11:43, 25 March 2008 (UTC) (Comments made without loggin in as User:Vimalkalyan)
