Mahil

Mahil is a Jat gotra or clan[1] found in the Northern Indian state of Punjab.

The place of origin of the Mahils is supposed to have been Delhi. Due to unknown reasons, they fell out with the Mughals and moved to Punjab, where they settled in several villages.

There are several villages in Punjab and Himachal that have the name "Mahil". Mahil Gaila in the Nawanshahr district in the Doaba region of the state is one such village.There is one district in Himachal called Hamirpur there most of Mahil subcaste peoples lives.

Mahal is a common last name that is derived from Mahil.
