- This article is about the modern Maharishi concept. See Vedanga for the historical six disciplines of Vedic science.
Maharishi Vedic Science, described as an integrated science based on ancient Vedic texts, theorizes an underlying, universal intelligence, or universal laws of nature that underly all of the created universe including the human mind and body, and that can be experienced in individual practice as the simplest state of awareness. This universal intelligence, theoretically, also gives rise to our created universe. The ability to experience this universal intelligence, or source of creation, is said to be available through the practice of one arm of Maharishi Vedic Science, Transcendental Meditation, and the more advanced program the TM-Sidhi program. The other arm of Maharishi Vedic Science, the Vedic Literature, [1] is said to arise out of this universal intelligence as flavors or frequencies and is said to describe the entire created universe. - Building design and construction
- Maharishi Sthapatya Veda describes a mathematical system for the design and construction of buildings according to Vedic principles[4], which takes into account three major factors: the orientation of the building, room placement, and the proper proportion of the rooms. [5]. These primary principles of Maharishi Sthapatya Veda are determined largely from the position of the sun, considered to be the most powerful natural influence on our planet. Aligned with the rising sun, an east-facing house would be considered most auspicious for the building’s inhabitants. North is also acceptable. South and West are considered to be least auspicious.[6].
- Mahrishi Gandharva Veda is a form of music that replicates the sounds of the laws of nature as they occur at different times of the day. [7]
- Maharishi Jyotish describes a system for the prediction and understanding of the tendencies of the individual,[8] that includes "yagyas", a system designed to remedy problems once they have been predicted.
