Á…Sh. Mahabir Prasad Asthana was a great man in all aspects of life. Born in 1903 at Lucknow. He got his education from Lucknow. He was a great freedom fighter and prominent Congress leader. Since his student life he joined the freedom movement and was the chairman and secretary of the District Congress mandal Committee Unnao. His enormous sacrifices for the country can be compared with any great freedom fighter of the Nation. He was a follower of Gandhi ji and take a role in non violence along with Vishambhar Dayal Tripathi. He was jailed for few months for his participation in 'Lagan bandi Aandolan' in 1932 along with V.D. tripathi. He was a Great scholar, politician and prominent personality. He founded a Junior high school at his safipur town in the memory of Mahtma Gandhi from his own pocket and was chairman of Junior high school. He supported several politicians Like Gopinath dixit (was Home Minister, Health Minister in U.P. Govt. ), Z. R. Ansari (was minister in State and Central Government), Babu Jagannath Prasad (was a Dy. Chief Minister and M.P.). He helped many people from his own pocket. He was close associate of Indira ji ,Bahuguna ji and Vishambhar Dayal Tripathi. He never let down from nation work and path of truth. He opposed the British rule and helped the poor farmers and other helpless person of this district.
