Alison Chaiken 14:00, 27 September 2005 (UTC): I've written a long and I think fairly complete article at spin wave. It's easy to argue that the spin wave article makes a long magnon article unnecessary. Therefore I wonder if it's still appropriate to characterize magnon as a stub. Is there some standard way to point readers interested in magnons to the spin wave article? Should readers of magnon simply be redirected to spin wave?

Oleg Tchernyshyov 04:58, 22 October 2005 (UTC) I think it makes sense to distinguish between spin waves and magnons (think classical electromagnetic waves vs photons). So I expanded the magnon stub to explain the concept and include some history. Actually, I am not sure who invented the term! Does anyone know?
