[edit] Redirect?

Any chance we can just merge what little information exists in this article to the character's article? Wolverine is the only one of the two spin-offs actually getting some press lately. No actual production news of this film -- director, casting other than McKellen, or release date -- have been confirmed. We can keep what few citations we have at the character's article until something actually happens. —Erik (talkcontribreview) - 00:13, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

I agree with the merger. It's currently crystal balling. Nothing is definitive right now. Look what happened to Halo, or all those Superman movies that were supposed to be coming out, but never did for 19 years.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 00:17, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

If there's no issue, I'm going to go ahead tonight and merge all the article's relevant information to Magneto (comics) and redirect until there is actual production activity for the film. —Erik (talkcontribreview) - 18:07, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

I would say un-redirect when a director signs on. Alientraveller 18:10, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

I say unredirect when production actually begins. Directors and sign on and sign off, nothing is set until they start filming. It's rare to actually have those Donner/Lester trade-offs in the middle of production.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 18:12, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

They have a cast, a director and so on, and then a release date, which is the usual fast production for X-Men films, I would say un-redirect. Alientraveller 18:14, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, but how many cast, directors and release dates did Superman have before Singer finally made the picture? Nothing is as certain until you actually start with the filming. You get to that point and you have to start signing checks. Before that you can change your mind at any point. I just don't like film articles sitting in their own personal development hell because we jumped the gun and created an article when there was no need for one.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 18:16, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Well we better have an article ready at least a week before filming begins, so the article can be properly shaped. Alientraveller 18:18, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Of course. I think once it gets within a week or so of set production dates, I think it's fine to start the article. You would think that they would know more than 1 week before production officially begins if they are going to cancel it or hire other people or whatnot. Erik and I were actually discussing trying to figure out some sort of guideline for creating future film articles and presenting it to the WikiProject Film article. We're a little busy with exams right now (coming close to the end of the year), but it's something that I think we both believe (and you might as well) is something important that needs to be addressed so that we have something to point to when it comes to people creating pages like Friday the 13th XI or something like that.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 18:24, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

The task is done. I found the initial announcement of the project back in December 2004, and I've included it at the Movies subsection. Also, the USA Today citation pretty much reiterated the earlier IGN citation, so I stuck with IGN. The page history's available if it needs to be retrieved, but there doesn't seem to be any actual activity with this project. When production actually starts up, the article can be re-visited. —Erik (talkcontribreview) - 12:10, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Director

Weird news... IMDb says that Alfonso Cuarón is attached. I've found nothing in the press to report anything about this. Typical IMDb reliability? —Erik (talkcontribreview) - 20:05, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Yup, it's just IMDb. Alientraveller 20:08, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
