Hey. One thing: the gopher got my symbol WRONG twice. Why?

Can someone clear up the proof for n digits for me. I get how it works, but the way it's written I'd expect for 1234, for example, it to mean 10⁴ x the fourth digit + 10³ x the third digit... i.e. 10000 x 4 + 1000 x 3 ..... It's probably just my poor understanding of mathematics, so I'd appreciate if someone could clear this up for me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Standoor (talk • contribs) 15:20, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
