[edit] Magadan

I have just begun seriously to work on the Magadan article as a result of my general interest in Kolyma. While it is comparatively easy to find references to the Stalin forced-labor camps and indeed the entire Soviet period, references to the 1990s and since are difficult to find. If anyone can contribute to more recent developments, I think the Wikepedia article would be more objective. Contribute directly or write to me at ipigott at yahoo dot com

There wasn't really all that much happening as far as the developments in the 1990s go. The bottom line is that the economic activities pretty much stopped, and people started leaving the city in hordes. Not much to boast about, really.
Anyway, this site has a bit on the most recent developments in the city, and the City Administration website has some forecasts about the city's future. If you can read Russian, you'll hopefully find these two resources at least marginally useful. Is there anything specific you are looking for?—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 21:34, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
