Maggie Moone

Maggie Moone is a singer best remembered for her role on the UK version of Name that Tune.
In 1980 she participated in A Song For Europe, aiming to become the United Kingdom's entry to that year's Eurovision Song Contest to be staged in The Hague, The Netherlands. Her song Happy Everything, was defeated by Prima Donna singing Love Enough For Two, who won the UK heat A Song For Europe after a very dubious 'sudden death' countback after the initial regional voting had placed them joint first. The live broadcast could not be extended as the British Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sir Geoffrey Howe, was scheduled to address the nation in a live transmission at exactly 9:00pm. As there was no time for the songs to be performed again, in an unrehearsed panic, host Terry Wogan asked each of the 13 regional juries to cast a single vote for which of the two songs they preferred. Some juries voted against the way they had earlier in the show and with the scoreboard unable to keep up, the entire process descended into farce. Regardless, Prima Donna were (correctly) declared the winners and went forward to Eurovision, where they finished in 3rd place.
