Maggie Kelly is the fictional heroine of a series of murder mystery/romance novels by Kasey Michaels [1]. Maggie is herself the author of a series of Regency-era mystery/romance novels starring The Viscount Saint Just, his sidekick Sterling Balder, and a string of romantic interests. In the first book of the Maggie Kelly series, Maggie Needs an Alibi, Saint Just and Sterling Balder appear in her living room as she enters a period of stress, convincing her that she is insane. Saint Just claims that Maggie has written them in such detail that they have become real and have been living inside her head for some time, only to step out of her head just now. The series basically follows Maggie, Saint Just, Sterling, and various other characters as they stumble on to (or become embroiled in) actual cases and have to work their way out of them while Saint Just tries to court Maggie.

There are five books in the series currently: Maggie Needs An Alibi, Maggie By The Book, Maggie Without a Clue, High Heels and Homicide, High Heels and Holidays. The sixth book, Bowled Over, is scheduled to come out November 2007 from Kensington Books [2].
