Maggie Cronin

Maggie Cronin is an Irish actress best known for her role in the BBC's long running daytime drama Doctors.

Born in Northern Ireland and based in Belfast, with brown hair, green eyes and a height of 5' 6", Maggie trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, which was absorbed into the Central School of Speech and Drama in 2006.

She is best known for her role as Kate McGuire in BBC's 'Doctors', a role she played from the dramas inception on 26th March 2000 to her leaving on 26th May 2006. [1] Kate set up the original practice around which the drama revolved, the Riverside Surgery, with her husband Mac (played by Christopher Timothy of 'All Creatures Great and Small' fame) and endured countless trials during her time in Letherbridge including a miscarriage, the trial of Mac for the murder of a patient, an affair with a priest and the abduction of her son, Ciaran.

Maggie has written her own one woman show, 'A Most Notorious Woman' (Published by Lagan Press) and toured around Ireland with it to much critical acclaim. Maggie was also the winner of the BBC Radio Drama Award in 1996.

She is known for her extensive theatre, voiceover and radio work, appearing on stations such as Radio Four ('One By One In The Darkness', Womans Hour) and local Irish radio such as BBC Northern Ireland and Radio Belfast. Her theatre work includes roles such as Joy Gresham in 'Shadowlands' (at the Lyric Theatre, Belfast), Titania in 'A Midsummer Nights Dream' (at the Lyric Theatre, Belfast) and Rita in 'Unless' (Scarborough). She has also appeared in Holby City as Bel Ferris ('Seven Days Later') and The Bill as Gina ('Unlucky For Some').[3]
