Maganlal Gandhi

Maganlal Gandhi was a follower of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. Grandson of an uncle of the Mahatma, he died of typhoid at Patna on 23 April 1928.

Maganlal Gandhi is cited in many works of Mohandas. It is he who suggested the word Satyagraha to define Gandhi's non-violence methods. According to Mohandas, Maganlal was the soul of Sabarmati Ashram. He followed Mohandas in South Africa in 1903 "in the hope of making a bit of fortune", but instead followed his cousin's self-imposed poverty and joined the Phoenix settlement.
