[edit] Change of colours

Hey everyone. I don't know if anyone has noticed, but this is a REALLY intense template the way it is now, and I think it needs changing. Because of the image used in the upper corner, I think the options are to have a lighter blue or go in the other direction and match the green. I personally think the green is slightly easier to read, and I think if we went with the blue it might require editing the image to a lighter blue colour also. But the blue is prettier. Let me know what you think of these. I spent a lot of time trying to find something light enough to read and in the right tone. I'd really like opinions on this.

Thanks for your work on this. Working on a laptop, I can't always tell how dark something will look on other computers. I really like either the light blue or the green much better than the current version. The blue reminds me more of the Wrinkle cover, but the green is more readable. Unless someone else wants to weigh in, I think you should pick one of the versions shown above and go with it. Thanks! Karen | Talk | contribs 18:46, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
I for one think the green looks better, but that's just me. ''[[User:Kitia|Kitia]] 19:16, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hugh Franklin?

Why is Hugh Franklin included in the template? I don't see any mention of Madeleine L'Engle's works in his Wikipedia page. And since he's a real person, well, he should hardly be included in a template called "Written by Madeleine L'Engle", yeah? --Micahbrwn 22:53, 6 August 2007 (UTC

Never mind, I just re-read it and apparently he was married to Madeleine before his death. I'm still curious as to why he's included in a template called "Written by Madeleine L'Engle", especially since she doesn't even get a spot. --Micahbrwn 22:56, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
L'Engle's own wikilink is in the header. Would you prefer a different header line? If so, what? Just "Madeleine L'Engle" perhaps, or "The Life and Works of Madeleine L'Engle"? And yes, Franklin was her husband, and she wrote about him extensively in her non-fiction (especially Two-Part Invention: The Story of a Marriage). It can even be argued that he's one of her characters, as the New Yorker article about her several years back accused her of fictionalizing their relationship somewhat. Still, his article should probably make this a little clearer.--Karen | Talk | contribs 23:25, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thoughts on a few recent edits

There have been a few edits to this template since the author's death, one of which I've reverted:

  1. Someone removed A Severed Wasp from the Austins section as "incorrect." Since Suzy Austin Davidson is a character in it, the listing was not incorrect per se. However, since the book is also listed under the name of its central character, Katherine, it probably isn't necessary to have the same title in the Austins section too. Besides, the same edit made a definite improvement in the Katherine and Camilla listings.
  2. Another edit resized the squashed circles image. I reverted this, because all it accomplished was to leave unsightly white space around it, instead of it being flush with the rest of that column. If someone wants to resize the whole thing in a consistent and visually attractive way, that's fine with me.
