[edit] "Lillian Verner Game Show" announcer?
Does anybody know who plays the announcer in the "Lillian Verner Game Show" sketches? My brother is convinced that it's Tom Kenny.Ian the Gecko 08:19, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Simian is played by Michael Hitchcock, who is probably best known for playing Hamilton Swan in Best in Show. I just created a Trivia section to cover this. — Stevie is the man! Talk | Work 17:33, 24 September 2005 (UTC)
He is also a writer on MadTV.
[edit] Success?
How about a citation on this shows success? What merits it being succesful. That's POV right there. How about just long running?
[edit] Simian
Simian(Lillian Verner) is played By Michael Hitchcock.
Does anyone else think this article is biased against MadTv?
Yeah I think it is. Personally, SNL has not been funny to me for years, and I find MAD TV's writers to be more innovative. That aside, this article, from what little non cast information is written, seems slanted.
- I totally agree that MADtv is far funnier and more innovative than SNL, and I used to be an SNL fan. However, I don't see any bias against MADtv in the article. Could you be more specific? — Stevie is the man! Talk | Work 17:36, 24 September 2005 (UTC)
- yeah, SNL has been total rubbish over the past five to seven years, while Mad Tv is showing few signs of slowing Mkaycomputer 20:11, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Expansion
This article needs to be expanded. Its popularity is growing exponentially, and all its article contains is a cast list and a brief summary. Compared to Saturday Night Live's article, this article is a travesty. Sure, SNL has 20 years on MadTV, but we could use a little more information. Mkaycomputer 19:51, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
- Second that. I've been watching the show off and on for years, long enough to know a lot of the main actor names, and I'm amazed that Will Sasso, Alex Borstein and Mo Collins don't have more than a "trivia" mention - they're all *key* MADtv players who have given the show many of its finest moments. No write-up of this show should exclude members who gave that much to it. --Whit 06:46, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] NPOV
I put a {{POV check}} tag on the article. The second paragraph, in particular, seems heavily biased in favor of certain seasons of the show over others. Powers 18:59, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
It was me that wrote the second paragraph. The MADtv Article needed to be expanded so i put what happened during the seasons. Metlover21 5:44pm 3 Febuary 2006 (UTC) If You would consider taking the POV check because i fixed it and it is perfectly balanced Metlover21
- It's better, but there's still lots of POV in that paragraph. "Edgier and FRESH"? "forgettable"? "Show's writing was getting weaker"? Those are all POV terms. Now, if you were to remove all of the POV terms from that paragraph, then we'd be left with nothing more than a list of cast changes, which is covered later in the article (season-by-season cast lists). So, what would be better is if you could find a SOURCE for those opinions. Remember, it's ok to have POV terms in an article if you attribute them to a source.
- Plus, the paragraph is too long and the style is a little too informal. Once we get sources in there, we can work on that. =) Powers 23:01, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
Okay, I got rid of the POV comments, and fixed the spacing, capitalization, wording and punctuation problems, but the comments on the "skyrocketed" second season needs a source, so I tagged it. Nightscream 07:45, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
- Nice work. Powers 15:54, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

Wow who ever fixed up this article must be good and who ever took my words and did that must be god at this Metlover21 17:03, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Article renaming
User:Anas7 (Talk, Contribs) recently renamed the page to MAD TV (comedy TV). While I don't like the fact that this was done without discussion, since there does seem to be a tv station in Greece that shares this name (MAD TV (music TV)) we may need a disambiguation page of some sort. I've already listed this on WP:RM.
[edit] Requested move
MAD TV (comedy TV) → MADtv – {move back to MADtv, with a disambig notice to MAD TV (music TV)}

- Support with caveat: neither article needs a disambiguation phrase in the title. We are allowed to have two articles, one called "MAD TV" and the other called "MADtv". So this article should be "MADtv" with a hatnote saying This article is about the American comedy series. For the Greece music channel, see MAD TV. And the other article should have the reverse. Powers 12:39, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
- Has already been done now. —Nightstallion (?) Seen this already? 07:27, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Trivia that makes absolutely no sense
"Frank Caliendo is the only cast member to know how to dance perfectly. He is a self-taught dancer" WTF does that mean?
[edit] Popular sketches
there should be a list of popular sketches...like laguna biotch and tickle me emo and kenny roger's jackass and stuart

[edit] Music Parodies
what about all the musical parodies? Seems like there should be a list of them all.
In episode summaries for each season of MADtv — where it belongs — mention of several musical parodies is included. And remember:

[edit] spring break
Hi, I saw a comercial on Fox 61 (Local Fox afiliate in Hartford, CT), that a new episode of the show would air saturday april 7th. I am going to update the number of episodes just so people know what happened.
[edit] Ironic?
Would an encyclopedia use words like Ironically or a phrase like, "Even more strange"? Seems unprofessional to me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.88.245.165 (talk) 20:55, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] production costs
Could someone add how much it costs to produce MadTV? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.88.245.165 (talk) 21:00, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Notes of Tenure
Just wondering why the phrase '...seven-year barrier' is in bold witin the article? Does it hold some sort of implicit meaning or something? Londonsista (talk) 16:46, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Ending the run?
Because of the Writer's Strike, is the show cancelled after the 13 years on the air or just taking a hiatus. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.188.126.78 (talk) 17:50, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Michael McDonald's Cast tenure
he been on the show for 10 seasons but when his last cast apperance will be dated or what? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.127.178.158 (talk) 21:45, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] What Does It Mean To Be A Featured Member??
On the show do they get paid more??
[edit] How should each season be numbered?
I noticed someone recently changed format of each season from numerals (e.g., Season 1) to spelling out number (e.g., Season one) on the MADtv main page. However, the page for each season is in the old format — numerals. Curiously, the links from MADtv main page to individual seasons are coded like this: MADtv season 1|MADtv season one.
I applaud the editor who was paying attention to this, because the whole number thing gets on my nerves (sorry, picky copy editor here). Has anyone pored over the Wiki Manual of Style enough to know the right conventions to follow? Trying to find specific information in the MOS is a nightmare for me — and I'm a pretty dedicated Wiki.
I checked out Saturday Night Live entry for comparison because that show is similar to MADtv. Looks like SNL uses numerals instead of spelling out numbers for each season.
Anyone care to add their 2 cents/two cents to this? I'd like to follow Wiki guidelines and be consistent. Thanks, Wikis. Kinkyturnip (talk) 22:07, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
