Madeline (character)

Madeline, sometimes known as Madeline Fogg[1], is the protagonist and title character of the children's book series by Ludwig Bemelmans. She is a student at a boarding school (retconned as "an orphan in an orphanage" for the 1998 movie)[citation needed], the smallest one in her class, yet the leader, of the girls, and appears 7 or 8 years old. Hatty Jones played the role of Madeline in the live-action adaptation of the series.
In the first book, she suffered from appendicitis.
