Madeleine Angevine
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Madeleine Angevine is a white wine grape that is grown primarily in England but also has plantings in Kyrgyzstan [1] and Washington State. [2]
Madeleine Angevine is crossed with Silvaner Geilweilerhof to make the Noblessa and Forta grapes. It is crossed with Traminer to make the Comtessa grape. [3]
In Washington State, the grape has developed a cult following for its floral character and easy drinking nature. [4]
The vine variety Madeleine Angevine that is grown widely in England is entirely different from the original French Madeleine Angevine from 1857 which has female flowers. Extensive information can be found on www.winegrowers.info
