[edit] Employment
The main source of income was agriculture and most of the people used to work as agricultural labour for landlords. After the early 1990s, the construction of industries in and around the village has given a boost to labourers to move on to better-paying jobs. Good transportation helped people move to the cities of Andhra Pradesh for better employment opportunities. Even today however, agriculture remains the major source of income in Madalavarigudem. Major exports include tobacco, mangoes, and rice.
The population of Madalavarigudem is around 1,500. UCO Bank and the Krishna District Co-Operative society in surampalli and corporate in addvinekkalam are the only financial institutions that provide financial services to the residents.
