Mad Dog

Mad Dog is a nickname. One of the earlist documented references for the term is in 1577 to refer to a strong ale called Madde Dogge. By 1818 it referred to the plant Scutellaria lateriflora,mad-dog skullcap, supposedly a cure for hydrophobia [1]
