MadWorld is an upcoming action video game for the Nintendo Wii developed by PlatinumGames and published by Sega.
[edit] Overview
From a third-person perspective, the player controls Jack, a hulking brute with a chainsaw for an arm, as he competes in a violent TV show.[1] Using the Nunchuk to move Jack, by gesturing the Wii Remote, players perform brutal melee attacks on enemies.[2] Also Jack can use objects around the environment, such as impaling an enemy's head with a sign post saying "Caution Sign", in a ironic way.
The game features extreme, over-the-top violence, but designer Shigenori Nishikawa intends it to be seen in a comical light.[2] For example, in a mini-game called "Man Darts," players must hit enemies onto a giant dartboard with a baseball bat to score points.[3] However, because of the intended level of violence PlatinumGames is unsure of whether or not the game will ultimately be released in Japan, stating, "In certain markets there are a lot of limitations on the amount of violence you can show, so we definitely have the Western market much more in mind."[4]
MadWorld features ultra-stylized graphics that use a limited color palette of high contrast black and white with red blood, inspired by Frank Miller's graphic novel series Sin City.[2]
