[edit] Help is Here per request user talk:fabartus

OK, got your message on article problem, let me poke around a minute, and I'll put an idea or two here. In the meantime, Here's your first user subpage User:Macs417/Sometricks. It'll be red until you save something in it. Copy the contents from user:Fabartus/Welcome message, and start poking around. There are a lot of tips and helpful advice for newbies.

  • I'll be back with article advice soon. FrankB 20:44, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
OK- I initialized you user page with the above suggested link. That way you won't mislay it. User pages are generally sacrosanct, but in this case, I'm creating it so User:Macs417 is no longer a redlink. And others can use it to get to your user page rapidly. FrankB 20:49, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

Okay, this is simple with two snags. The goal will be to make this an disambigulation page, and have links to both articles in their own 'New' pages. The only complication is making sure the proper categories and stubs go with each personality.

  • One alternative - If you can websearch and otherwise find out whether one has a middle initial, create just a new article for him with a link to the other article. Also point the new article back to the old, if this method is used.
  1. Edit and create: Andy Collins (television) and Andy Collins (radio)
  2. Preview (not save) your edit window. You'll see the redlinks for these names.
  3. Cut as much of the bottom that pertains to the DJ into the cut buffer, then click the redlink for him, and paste it in place. Preview, Save.
  4. You should be looking at the new page. Backspace (Back arrow) to your original edit window.
  5. Grab the templates and stubs you need for him. You can open a second browser window to the new article, and just window the cut buffer to a second edit window.
  6. The remaining should belong to the tv personality. CTRL-A CTRL-X that and pick it all out. Follow the redlink to that new article. Put the stuff in it. Save, etc.
  7. in the original, put {{disambig}} as top line.
    1. links to first article, with a one line discription of who he is.
    2. links to second article ditto, etc.

Save, Drop me a 'done' note, and I'll check it over.

[edit] Andy Collins et. al. Needs

  1. Rather than clutter up your user page, I cross posted my advice on the two article talks Talk: Andy Collins (radio) and Talk: Andy Collins (television).
  2. You might move right along, as these are awfully skimpy. An early research target should be standard bio stuff like birthplace, date, parents, etc. from public records, and a list of all references found using search engines, and different search strings.

I leave the matter in your hands. I'll be off line most of the weekend. I need a WikiBreak and with spring finally reaching Boston, the yard needs attention, as does the family! FrankB 17:45, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

  • I've got a stranded edit on the above (original) article page, so that's fixing it up. I've just posted a bunch of categories there, so cross reference those to the two articles you created, and track down the equivilent Cat to Category: Radio DJs in the USA (My name - there are sub cats for British, New Zealand, personalities, and I'd be amazed if the USA has been overlooked. This is great for you. I went clueless on categories for most of my first year! Caution: Don't start a new one, w/o asking around. These will also be cross indexed as part of stub-sorting project, and bound in Templates. All three are somewhat advanced topics while getting your feet wet.
OTOH, if you think something applies, put it in on any article. Someone may disagree and delete or modify later, but generally that is because they are a patrolling expert on some wikipedia project like stub sorting, or patrolling newbies or recent changes (usually admins).

TIP: (Follow the cats on projects to others) Best! FrankB 18:04, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

  • I've done some section stubbing in the tv article, and called in a 'big gun' (User talk: Mel Etitis) to sort out an issue in the dates of the 'family fued' television links. He'll probably say Hi, and is a good British guy to know when you need info, or time differences make him a better way to go. FrankB

I'll get out of the way, we were both making changes creating an edit conflict. Look at the imbedded comments starting with <!---- coments and suggestions, problems, et. al. ad nauseum ----> and How I just made that one appear rather than hide. See the one on the incomplete army record especially! Best regards, FrankB 19:10, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Clean up User talk:208.191.135.24

If the contribs are all yours. FrankB 19:41, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

Warning: 99 Hit FM (This 99 FM article) needs some severe upgrading or someone will come along fairly soon with Template: Advert ({{advert}}
especially one of the deletionists Nazi's! Zing! <G> We manage to have fun!) FrankB 19:46, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

Fortunately, my favorite Sis, Hubby, and Nephews are all into this genre, as are some close friends* we're sharing Easter with tomarrow. Do try and make some other contribs here and there— if only as a couresy for my time. Attended a good show Live last fall too up in Manchester,NH.
* We're all catholics. Sis, alas, has strayed from the true path<G> ;(

I've got to get some other things done. Best wishes, FrankB 19:55, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Revise and Relook

Just poked into your first sub-page. :Snooping is a wikipedia tradition. Takes some getting used to, but assume all is always visible to all! re: WP:CIV too.

  1. Go back to my source, edit mode, CTRL-A, CTRL-C to grab the tricks.
  2. Backspace or backarrow out, then enter and edit your new page.
  3. Ctrl-a TO SELECT ALL in the edit window, THEN OVERWRITE using Ctrl-V to paste the goodstuff. SAVE it.

OK? Then you can poke around and change things, have the links, et al and see what affects what.

  • You might want to consider dropping me an email and saying hi. My address is on my talk header section. Note you can click on my signature (Green side) and navigate directly there.

Best FrankB 20:03, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] AfD

Please don't remove an AfD notice until the AfD proceedings are complete, thanks! - CHAIRBOY () 06:17, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

You knew that James River Assembly was put up for AFD months ago. Why did you disobey the consensus and rewrite the article? I have put the article up for AfD again and don't expect you to break rules. :: Colin Keigher 08:40, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
