Hey, Luke, I notice you haven't edited since May 9. I hope this is from choice, and not a result of getting blocked by the autoblocker? I'm sorry if I sounded curt when we spoke on IRC, I was just terribly stressed at the time. Please let me know if you're having trouble editing, or if there's anything else you think I might be able to help with. Bishonen | talk 19:54, 21 May 2006 (UTC).
- I haven't been able to edit because of the autoblock. Its fine about you being curt, I'm really the last person to be offended by anything along those lines. My mother and I have on occasion tried clicking edit to see if the autoblock faded. It didn't seem to. What my plan was is to just let it sit for a month or two and then come back and ask if it was possible to have the IP block lifted. Thanks. User:Macai
- That bit about your mother on occasion clicking edit is the whole trouble. I've tried to explain this to her, but, heck, when it comes to the autoblocker, I'm not really sure I understand it myself. Anyway, she's told me a couple of times that she never tries to edit, only now and then she clicks Edit by mistake when she means to click on History. Well, the autoblocker doesn't care if it's by mistake, obviously: if something like that happens, it just blocks both of you for a further 24 hours. This is what you need to do as a family: nobody tries to edit for 24 hours and then a few hours extra, in case. After that, you, only you, edit logged in as Macai, and that's ALL. Don't edit logged out, don't create a different username, just use Macai. Maggie mustn't edit from your IP at all, it's going to set off the autoblocker every time she tries. (Well, except, theoretically, if SHE should log in as Macai, but I hope you guys aren't going to play any games like that, it would be a bad idea in several ways.)
- I realize I've been telling Maggie that she has a chance of starting to edit again if she creates a harmless account and keeps her head down, see User talk:Dot Bitch. But she can't do that from your blocked IP, she'll have to use one of the ways she used for the Lamb of god or Dot Bitch socks: go via a hosting service or whatever. Because, no, I'm not ready to unblock you guys' IP. Maggie is community banned, after all.
- I'll try to get hold of Demi or similar to take a look at what I've written here and maybe modify or add to it, in case I'm getting something wrong. I won't be around much the next few days. Hope it works out. Bishonen | talk 09:32, 22 May 2006 (UTC).
- As I see it, this is not really case of retriggering the autoblock, it's just that the latest autoblock to apply was not unblocked. I've unblocked it. Now, if the user has been blocked under another account, and has tried to edit, it could be that another autoblock for the same IP applies (but the block message will say which, at least), and if Thewolfstar tries to edit again, it'll be blocked again. This is in the way of a provisional unblock--a sort of eighth chance, since the banned user is evading the ban anyway. But if it's autoblocked again I won't unblock and my guess is that neither will anyone else. Demi T/C 21:41, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
