From WP:RM:

  • Articles in the disambiguation are about something on the island and Mactan (disambiguation) should be used on the disambiguation page.23prootie 20:05, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
There is no need for a disambiguation page to have a title ending in " (disambiguation)". That is only necessary when the page without that ending is already occupied by another article. --Stemonitis 20:56, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
Fine, but why is the disambiguation nescessary when all articles in it are about something directly related to Mactan (the island). Besides, major islands in the Philippines do not use the word "island" in their names unless there is an associated city, town or province (i.e. Luzon, Mindanao, Boracay, Corregidor, Cebu (island), Samar (island))--23prootie 07:49, 26 May 2007 (UTC) 23prootie 07:44, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

23prootie is right regarding Mactan: see WP:MOSDAB#Examples of individual entries that should not be created—all other uses are named after the island, and the dab page is not necessary. That is not the case with Panay though. Duja 14:08, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
