[edit] Mack Sennett's Companies
I've often read of Sennett's Keystone studios, but keep seeing additional references to "Mack Sennett Studios" in Studio City, CA. (e.g. the Studio City's Chamber of Commerce Web page). Does anyone have any definitive information on this? Where would this fit within his timeline? Thanks so much! --Shannontakita 15:38, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
- No info to provide yet, Shannon, but look at the image of "Keystone Studios" in the article --
- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Keystone_Studios.jpg
- On the roof is clearly painted "Mack Sennett Studios." --Rizzleboffin 16:28, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
- Here's what Sennett says, in his (not entirely reliable) autobiography King of Comedy, p.204
- "Early in 1915 I went to La Junta, Colorado, to meet D.W. Griffith and Thomas H. Ince in the parlor of the Harvey House. We emerged with the Triangle Film Corporation, which we announced with the loudest brass and drums we could hire press agents to beat... Now I made a change in Edendale which I looked forward to as the highest point of my life. I took down the huge sign which announced the Keystone studios and replaced it with a much bigger sign. It said:
- MACK SENNETT STUDIO"
- and on p. 257:
- "The sign at the front gate in Edendale informed Edendale that this was the Mack Sennett Studio. I set store by my name up there, valued it more, even, than the money now pouring into the cashbox by way of the parent company, Triangle. But our pictures were actually released as Keystone Comedies and that is how the world knew them. Suddenly we were offered a shining opportunity..." then goes into the forming of Triangle with Griffith & Ince. --Rizzleboffin 16:57, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Keystone Studios.jpg
Image:Keystone Studios.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
