[edit] claims of approval of principles

To my knowledge, the MacBride Principles have not been approved by neither the Irish Government not the Catholic Bishops' Conference in the US. A few Irish-American Bishops may have publicly supported them, but certainly no Catholic bishop in Ireland. Their main supporter has always been Fr. Sean McManus of the Irish National Caucus.

There were serveral versions of the MacBride Principles, as the first one(s) were to a certain extent out of touch with the harsh realities in NI. Thus, some of the less realistic principles were dropped in the process.

I am sorry to say that my impression of the article is that it seems to have quite a strong Irish-American lobby tendency, which does not have a positive influence on its neutral appearance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Markus Büchele (talkcontribs) 21:38, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
