Macracanthorhynchus hirudinaceus (Pallas, 1781) is an acanthocephale parasiting in intestine of pig and other Suids, very occasionally in humans or dogs. It causes enteritis, gastritis or peritonitis. Life cycle includes beetles of genus Melolontha as intermediate hosts.
