Macon spoons

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Macon spoons replaced the traditional 'pencil' spoons on rowing blades at the 1959 European Championship.

The spoon shape is broader than a pencil, and is named after the venue of the event they debued in, used by the West Germans. West Germany won all the male sweep oar events that year. The only exception was the coxless four, which was won by Switzerland, with West Germany coming second.
