Macleod is a railway station in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, located in the suburb of Macleod, on the Hurstbridge railway line. It is in Metcard Zone 2 and is classed as a Premium station.

The station consists of three platforms, 2 of them in an island format (and is the only station on the Hurstbridge line to have 3 platforms). Platform 1 contains a large brick building with an enclosed waiting room and a ticket office inside while platform 2&3 (island platform) contains a small fibro building. A large Metcard machine is located inside the waiting room, which is able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accept notes and coins. A small Metcard machine is located at the entrance to platform 2 and 3. Stabling facilities are located at the city end of the station. Macleod is located between McNamara Street and Birdwood Avenue, with access from both. shops are located near the station.

[edit] History

Macleod station originally opened on Wednesday, 1st March 1911. The line was the junction of the short Mont Park branch line from 1912 to 1964.
