Macken (TV series)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Macken is a Swedish 6-part musical sit-com that ran on SVT in 1986. It was produced by Galenskaparna and After Shave and was a major breakthrough for the group. Some of the songs from the show became hits on Svensktoppen and a movie was made in 1990.
The title translates as "the mack" with "mack" in this case being common Swedish slang for gas station.
[edit] Story
The setup centers around the two brothers Roy and Roger who own a small gas station in an unknown part of the country (the show was shot in Vara). The bulk of the show involves the usually eccentric customers that the pair (but mostly Roy) has to deal with. There is also a subplot where the local government wants to demolish the station to build a new freeway.
[edit] Production
The show was shot completely in the studio with no exterior shots. The setting never moves from the interior of the station and aside from a small glimpse when Roy opens the backdoor you never see how the outside looks.
