As of 2001 India census[2], Machhlishahr had a population of 22,943. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Machhlishahr has an average literacy rate of 57%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 65%, and female literacy is 49%. In Machhlishahr, 18% of the population is under 6 years of age.

It's situated in the middle of city. It provides BA degree for some selected subjects to only female students. It doesn't have intermediate in science stream.

This is one of the oldest school providing education up to 8th standard. This school has tie up with some government college and thus it provides education for 9th and 10th standard of UP board.

This English medium school came into existence in 2004-05.It is the best English medium school in the town.
