MacArthur Junior High School is a learning establishment located in Prospect Heights, Illinois, on the border of Arlington Heights. Enrollment is approximately 600. MacArthur was named after General Douglas MacArthur who served as commander in chief in the Korean War.
The school's band, led by Mr. Dave Thomas, has won honors in the Music in the Parks Contest in Viking Middle School and the Chicagoland Music Festival in Hersey High School. They also have been part of the Illinois SuperState competition. The school is made up of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. This school has taken many first place awards in music and athletics.
MacArthur also often helps in the community with its M.A.D. (Make a Difference) day.
MacArthur has undergone a series of tragedies when a former teacher died over the summer (2007). Just several days before the first day of school, a teacher, Mr. Bujnowski (B) was struck by a train and killed.
