Ma'anit (Hebrew: מענית‎) is a kibbutz located near the town of Pardes Hanna-Karkur in northern Israel. It falls under the jurisdiction of Menashe Regional Council.

[edit] History

The kibbutz was established in 1942 by members of the Hashomer Hatzair group who had immigrated from Czechoslovakia and Poland. It's name refers to the first furrow ploughed in a field. The analogy was presented in Abraham Hertzfeld's speech about settlement in the area in which he saw its establishment as being the first of many. The locality of Ketzir-Herish (meaning Harvest and Plowing) was founded soon after.

Due to its location near Wadi Ara, it was on the front line during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War and was attacked by the Iraqi Army.
