M-78 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Michigan. The western terminus is the intersection with M-66 north of Battle Creek. The eastern terminus is the intersection with I-69 near Olivet.

M-78 lies within Calhoun County and Eaton County. It briefly crosses the southeast corner of Barry County.

One time, M-78 had a segment of freeway that started just east of Perry and ended just west of Flint. It was later extended past Flint to Lapeer but only the stretch to Flint was designated M-78. Then, at some time, I-69 was designated onto that segment of freeway; and M-78 had its terminus scaled back at I-69 to avoid duplicate signage on the freeway corridor.

Historical Note: M-78's original western point was at the Indiana state line with SR 9 south of Sturgis. In 1965, after a 2-lane road was built from M-78/M-86 west of Colon to M-60 east of Mendon, M-78 from its M-66 junction to SR 9 was renamed M-66, and old M-78 from the eastern M-60/M-66 junction, past Sherwood, to Colon was made a county road. M-78's historic eastern terminus was Flint where former M-78 route Miller Road ended at W. Court Street which is M-21.
